Jordi Polycarpe is a Haitian-American singer-songwriter and producer from NYC currently based in Miami, FL. A recent graduate of the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami, Jordi was most recently featured in Spotify's editorial playlist Fresh Finds Jazz, she's been nominated for a collegiate level NAACP Image Award for “Entertainer of the Year,” and received the Bruce Hornsby Scholarship for songwriting two years in a row in 2020 and 2021. At just 22 years old, she’s been a creative for over a decade — songwriting since the age of 8, a guitarist since 14, and producing since 15.
Gifted with synesthesia, Jordi’s layered vocals, rhythmic guitars, and vulnerable lyrics strive to let listeners into her world, and learn more about themselves in the process.
Her soundscape includes an eclectic mix of alternative R&B, indie rock, and Caribbean pop, citing influences from the likes of Paramore, Alicia Keys, Lily Allen, Timbaland, & Pharrell Williams. As a young, black woman just stepping into her 20s, she is navigating her newfound world the only way she knows how--- unapologetically.
As a young artist, her talents stayed within her high school, slowly moving to local shows within the boroughs of New York City. Before the release of her first single “Butterflies” in 2017, she had been uploading covers and originals to Soundcloud since 2015. Her first EP Sharks & Minnows was released in August 2018 just before starting her freshman year at the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music. Since then she's released 4 singles, "Bad Ways," an honest recount of learning how to forgive yourself; "Nu Skin," a collaboration with New York artist Jonny Rose and rapper Florida native Andre Mez; "Nola Darling," a Caribbean-influenced pop track inspired by Spike Lee's She's Gotta Have It; and "Soul of Gold" a collaboration with San Diego artist Mooreyardi. Jordi also released a 2-track project entitled ANMC |090819 which she wrote & recorded while quarantining in NYC during the summer of 2020 amidst Covid19, police brutality protests, and feelings of disconnect.
Jordi's most recent project JONAH is a self-written and self-produced 5-track EP that embraces loss and almost-loves. Released on January 29th, this project follows a tumultuous, fast-paced, and passionate relationship that burns out just as quickly as it starts. With celestial synthesizers, sunkissed guitar riffs, & rainy soundscapes recorded from her childhood home in Queens, JONAH puts the listener into a timeless love dream.
Jordi’s newest single “Think About (Me),” a dreamy and feminine anthem for introspection and independence, was released on May 13th, 2022.
